Burt Merriam

This is Burt's first year with the Blackfryars though he is no stranger to the Shire, having visited as a patron for many years. When not tottering about the Shire as Charlie Wethers, local goat farmer and arguably "the oldest man in the Shire" Burt serves as the Director of The Hill School Center For The Arts and is the School's Director of Theatre. For the past twenty years he has directed over 40 Hill School productions and recently instituted a children's theatre touring program. In addition, he performs his own solo show in schools throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
