Wild Rover

Well I've been a Wild Rover for many a year,
And I've spent all me money on whiskey and beer.
And now I'm returning with gold in great store,
And I never will play the Wild Rover no more.

Chorus:
And it's No [CLAP CLAP]
Nay [CLAP CLAP]
Never [CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP];
No, nay, never no more.
Will I play the Wild Rover,
No, never, no more.

I went back to an alehouse I used to frequent,
And I told the landlady my money was spent.
I asked her for a credit, she answered me "Nay,"
She said, "Such a custom as yours,
I can have any day!"

(chorus)

And then out of me pockets I pulled sovereign's bright,
And the landlady's eyes opened wide with delight.
She said, "I have whiskey and wine of the best,
And I'll take you upstairs
And I'll show you the rest!"

(chorus)

I'll go back to me parents, confess what I've done.
And I'll ask them to pardon their prodigal son.
And, if they embrace me as oft times before,
Then I never will play the wild rover no more.

(chorus x 2)
